Gymnast of the Week
Tate Costa – Illinois

  • Posted career best scores in four events to help Illinois defeat No. 4 Michigan
  • Scored podium finishes in the high bar (14.300) and Floor exercise (14.300)
  • Recorded scores of 13.750 in the high bar and 13.300 in the rings
  • Garners his first Gymnast of the Week award

Specialist of the Week
Fred Richard – Michigan

  • Won the high bar at Illinois with a score of 14.900, the highest in the nation this season.
  • Earns his second Event Specialist of the Week award

Co-Freshmen of the Week
Brandon Dang – Illinois

  • Recorded a career-high score of 15.200 on the pommel horse in the Illini’s win over Michigan.
  • Earns his third consecutive Freshman of the Week award

Zach Snyder – Ohio State

  • Scored his first collegiate event win with a 15.000 in the vault to help the Buckeyes spit a tri-meet with No. 2 Oklahoma and Arizona State
  • Recorded a season-best score of 13.800 in the floor exercise
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week award

Eastern College Athletic Conference

Gymnast of the Week
Matthew Petros – Navy
Petros led Navy to a 12.9-point victory over Army with 53.6 combined points on Saturday over his four events (PH, VT, PB, HB.) He placed first on the parallel bars with a 13.65 (+0.15) and tied for first on the vault (14.5), while ranking third on the pommel horse (13.05) and sixth on the high bar (12.4.) His vault score was the second-best in his career.

Specialist of the Week
Maddox Pabellon – Army
Sophomore Maddox Pabellon won the pommel horse title against Navy by a convincing .6 margin. His score on pommel horse was the top score on the event in the ECAC over the weekend.

Co-Rookies of the Week
Jaxon Clapper – Greenville
Clapper provided three very steady scores across his three events for Greenville. He placed top-5 on floor (12.25) and parallel bars (13.25).

Jake Smith – Simpson
Smith hit 4/4 routines at Simpson’s home opener and played a huge role in notching three new program records on rings, vault, and high bar. Jake finished third on both rings (12.9) and high bar (12.65.) His performance was integral to beating the previous program record team score by nearly 10 points.

Gymnast of the Week
Brandon Nguyen – Stanford
Stanford senior Brandon Nguyen (Elk Grove, CA) won the all-around (79.700) and the floor exercise title (13.950) to lead a Cardinal team win over No. 9 California (Feb. 3). He added scores of 13.700 on parallel bars and 13.400 on still rings. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Nguyen.

Ignacio Yockers – Oklahoma
Oklahoma sophomore Ignacio Yockers (Tulsa, OK) won the pommel horse title with a 14.700 to lead Sooner wins over No. 6 Ohio State and Arizona State (Feb. 3). It was his second-highest pommel horse score this season. He is ranked first nationally on pommel horse with his 14.633 three-score average. This is the sixth career MPSF weekly award for Yockers, including two in the last three weeks.

Freshman of the Week
Colin Flores – Oklahoma
Oklahoma freshman Colin Flores (Mountain House, CA) won the all-around title with a score of 80.300 to lead Sooner wins over No. 6 Ohio State and Arizona State (Feb. 3). He notched a career-high on vault (14.550) and tied his career- high on parallel bars (14.200) to win the p-bars title. Flores is now one of only two gymnasts nationally to reach two all-arounds of 80 this season. This is the second MPSF weekly award for Flores.
