Josh Karnes – Penn State

  • Won three events, as No. 2 Penn State opened the season with a win over then-No. 11 Army
  • Finished first in the floor (13.650), parallel bars (14.900), and high bar (14.050)
  • Placed third in the pommel horse (13.150)
  • Garners his third career Player of the Week award

Freshman of the Week
Landon Simpson – Penn State

  • Won the pommel horse (13.650) in his collegiate debut
  • Finished third in the in the vault (14.000)
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week award

Specialist of the Week
David Wolma – Michigan

  • Posted a score of 14.700 in the pommel horse to finish second, as No. 1 Michigan opened the season against then-No. 14 Simpson and No. 15 Greenville
  • Earns his first Event Specialist of the Week award

Eastern College Athletic Conference

Gymnast of the Week
Sterling Pariza – Simpson College
Sterling started his sophomore season competing in all six events. He hit six for six and finished second in the all-around against Michigan and Greenville. Sterling posted career highs on Parallel Bars and High Bar as well as a program record All-Around score. He was a leading force behind Simpson’s 25 point jump from the same meet last year.

Specialist of the Week
Zach Connelly – Greenville
Zach won an event title in Floor Exercise over Michigan and Simpson where he had a career high score of 14.1.

Rookie of the Week
Logan Watterson – Greenville
Logan won the Vault against Michigan and Simpson with a score of 14.95 and provided a solid Rings score of 12.75 in his NCAA debut. In addition, he received the Newt Loken award for the best performance in the meet.
