KIEV, Ukraine, March 16, 2019 — Nastasya Generalova of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, is expected to compete in the hoop final at the Grand Prix, which concludes tomorrow in Kiev, Ukraine, with the event finals at 3 p.m. local time. Helena Pavlovcic of Glendale, Calif./California Rhythms, and Eliza Cohen of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, placed seventh in the clubs and eighth in the ball finals, respectively, at the Deriugina Cup in Kiev. Generalova posted a 63.900 in the all-around for 15th place. Her event scores were: hoop, 17.800; ball, 14.850; clubs, 16.800; and ribbon, 14.450. Ukraine’s Vlada Nikolchenko won the all-around title (77.950). Bulgaria’s Katrin Taseva was the silver medalist with a 76.650, and the bronze went to Russia’s Ekaterina Selezneva at 75.800. Using the two gymnasts per country rule for event finals, Generalova’s 17.800 earned her a spot in the hoop final. The gymnasts with the top event scores in today’s competition were: hoop and ribbon, Nikolchenko; ball, Selezneva; and clubs, Alina Harnasko of Belarus.
At the Deriugina Cup, Pavlovcic earned a 15.150 for seventh place in the clubs final. The Ukraine’s Olena Diachenko, who also garnered the hoop title, tallied a 19.650 to take the clubs gold medal. Belarus’ Anastaslia Salos was second at 19.350, and Bulgaria’s Vaya Draganova was third (18.600). Cohen finished eighth in the ball final with a 14.400. Salos, who also won the ribbon crown, snared the ball title with her 21.450. Russia’s Polina Orlova and Diachenko tied for second at 19.500.
