VALENCIA, Spain (August 25, 2023) – The U.S. delegation of Evita Griskenas (Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center), Lili Mizuno (Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics) and the Senior National Group finished in the top 15 in team competition at the 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Valencia, Spain.

The American team landed 14th with an overall score of 292.850 Friday afternoon. The teams from Bulgaria, Germany and Italy were first (330.150), second (326.350) and third (323.850), respectively. Team rankings were determined by taking the cumulative score of each individual and group routine during qualifications.

In group competition, the Senior National Group of Izzy Connor (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), Gergana Petkova (Barrington, Ill.), Katrine Sakhnov (Glencoe, Ill.), Karolina Saverino (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and Hana Starkman (Deerfield, Ill.) posted a 52.550 to place 18th in all-around competition, where Israel was first with a 70.800. The American group was 16th in three ribbons and two balls with a 26.700 and 24th in five hoops with a 25.850.

The U.S. team did not qualify to Saturday and Sunday’s final competitions. They will return to the global stage at the 2023 Pan American Games November 1-4 in Santiago, Chile.
