LONDON, Jan. 16, 2012 – 2010 World all-around finalist Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md./Capital Rhythmics, sits in 17th place after the first day of the 2012 Visa International Gymnastics competition held today at the North Greenwich Arena in London. The event, which is part of the London Prepares series, serves as the second qualifying event for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Qualification competition concludes tomorrow, beginning at 7 a.m. ET. The 2012 Visa International Gymnastics event concludes Wednesday, Jan. 18, with the all-around rhythmic finals.

Zetlin began competition performing the hoop to earn a 24.350. In the second rotation, Zetlin received a 24.700 for her ball routine, giving her a 49.050 two-event score and provisional 17th place. Tomorrow, Zetlin will perform ribbon and clubs routines to complete her all-around performance.
