ORLANDO, Fla., June 8, 2013 – Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics, won the junior all-around title today with a score of 121.050 at the 2013 U.S. Rhythmic Championships, held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex’s HP Field House, located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Platinum Academy, 113.900, and Serena Lu of State Island, N.Y./Isadora, 113.700, finished second and third respectively.

Elite competition wraps up later tonight with the senior all-around finals, where Rebecca Sereda of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, seeks her second straight U.S. title.

Zeng, the leader after the preliminary round, posted combined scores of 31.700, hoop; 30.950, ball; 29.900, clubs; and 28.500, ribbon, to take the second U.S. all-around title of her career. Zeng won the Hope division all-around title in 2011. Budginas was solid on all four apparatus with scores of 28.300, hoop; 27.800, ball; 28.250, clubs; and 29.550, ribbon. Lu earned scores of 28.150, hoop; 29.800, ball; 28.250, clubs; and 27.500, ribbon.

This national championship event features the best rhythmic gymnasts in the United States and will determine the all-around and individual national champions, as well as the members of the U.S. National Team. Competition will be held for Levels 4-10, with Level 10 as the elite division.
