LJUBLJANA, Slovenia, April 17, 2017 – 2016 Olympian Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, won five medals (4 gold and one bronze) over the weekend at the MTM Ljubljana International Tournament in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Zeng clinched the all-around, hoop, clubs, and ribbon titles and claimed bronze in the ball final.

Zeng tallied a 68.150 to win the all-around gold medal. She earned the top event scores on hoop (17.700), ball (17.200), and clubs (17.300), in addition to the third highest ribbon score (15.950). Russia’s Marina Paulova finished second (67.150), followed by her teammate Karina Kuznetsova in third (62.450).

In the clubs final, Zeng claimed the gold medal with her 18.050. Paulova earned the silver medal with a 17.750, and Yuljya Isachanka of Belarus finished third (15.950).

Following tie-breaking procedures which favor the execution score, Zeng captured the gold medal in the hoop final. Zeng and Paulova posted matching 17.500’s however,
Zeng’s execution score of 8.800 surpassed the Russian’s 8.500 for title. Kuznetsova was the bronze medalist (16.100).

Zeng topped the podium in the ribbon final with a 17.400. Russia’s Mariia Sergeeva was the silver medalist (16.400), and Isachanka captured the bronze medal (15.600).

In the ball final, Zeng snared the bronze medal with a 16.350. Paulova was the champion with a 17.900, and Isachanka took the silver, scoring a 17.000.
