INDIANAPOLIS, May 31, 2021 – Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center earned her third top-10 all-around finish of the 2021 Rhythmic World Cup Series Saturday at the Vitrifrigo Arena in Pesaro, Italy. Zeng maintained her seventh-place standing across two days of competition, earning spots in the hoop and ball apparatus finals where she finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

Zeng’s 24.550 on hoop and 25.650 on ball on Friday advanced her to the apparatus finals. She increased her scores in both events Sunday, garnering a 24.900 on hoop and 25.750 on ball. On the second day of competition, Zeng posted a 23.975 on clubs, while her 22.250 on ribbon landed her ninth, making her the first reserve for the ribbon final. She finished with a combined 96.425, her highest all-around total of 2021. Zeng’s teammate Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics notched 18th in the all-around, earning a 23.400 on hoop, 23.350 on ball, 20.900 on clubs and 21.600 on ribbon en route to an 89.250 – also a season high.

Russia’s Dina Averina claimed the all-around title Saturday with a 108.800. Averina also topped the field on hoop with a 26.900, while Israel’s Linoy Ashram led the way on ball with a 28.550. Dina’s sister Arina Averina took the top spot on both clubs (28.800) and ribbon (24.700).

The Senior National Group – comprised of Izzy Connor of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Camilla Feeley of Wheeling, Ill., Liza Merenzon of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Lili Mizuno of Northbrook, Ill., Elizaveta Pletneva of Wheeling, Ill., and Nicole Sladkov of Vernon Hills, Ill., all of North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center – was also in action and posted a 36.700 in the five balls competition (15th) and 36.300 in the three hoops and two pairs of clubs competition (10th) to claim 12th with a combined 73.000. Russia took the group title with an 88.700.
