INDIANAPOLIS, May 1, 2017 – 2016 Olympian and four-time World Cup bronze medalist Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, will represent Team USA at the 2017 World Games, scheduled for July 20-30 in Wroclaw, Poland.
The World Games are the equivalent to the Olympic Games for events and disciplines that are not currently on the Olympic program. For rhythmic gymnastics, medals are awarded in individual apparatus finals since the Olympic program includes only the all-around. Rhythmic competition runs July 21 and 22 in Wroclaw.
The U.S. will also send a rhythmic gymnastics delegation to the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan. Competition is scheduled for August 27-29. Serena Lu, Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, and Brigita Budginas, Agoura Hills, Calif./California Rhythms, will represent the U.S. at the event.
