INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., March 1, 2022 – Winter Cup all-around champion Konnor McClain (Cross Lanes, W.Va./WOGA Gymnastics), runner-up Skye Blakely (Frisco, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) and McClain’s 2021 World Championships teammate eMjae Frazier (Erial, N.J./Parkettes National Gymnastics Training Center) will lead an eight-gymnast delegation at the 2022 DTB Pokal Team Challenge and Mixed Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, March 18-20. In all, five senior women and five junior women will compete in the DTB Pokal Team Challenge, while three additional senior women will compete alongside three U.S. senior men in the DTB Pokal Mixed Cup. The U.S. men’s roster will be announced later in the week.
Blakely, Frazier and McClain will be joined in the Team Challenge competition by fellow seniors Nola Matthews (Gilroy, Calif./Airborne Gymnastics Training Center) and Ashlee Sullivan (Richardson, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) and juniors Myli Lew (Belmont, Calif./San Mateo Gymnastics), Ella Murphy (Frisco, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics), Ella Kate Parker (West Monroe, La./Cincinnati Gymnastics), Hezly Rivera (Plano, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) and Tiana Sumanasekera (Pleasanton, Calif./West Valley Gymnastics School). Karis German (Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre), Katelyn Jong (Allen, Texas/Metroplex Gymnastics) and Levi Jung-Ruivivar (Maple Grove, Minn./Twin City Twisters) will represent the U.S. in the Mixed Cup.
In all, four teams will compete in the Mixed Cup competition March 20 on four chosen men’s apparatus and all four women’s apparatus with two gymnasts per country on each event. All scores will count. Standings after the first three men’s and women’s apparatus will determine who will compete head-to-head for the gold and bronze medals. Scores will reset to zero heading into the final apparatus, and the results of this round will decide the final placements.
The women’s Team Challenge will consist of up to four gymnasts per country competing on each apparatus with the top-three scores counting toward the team total. The six highest-scoring gymnasts on each apparatus will also qualify to compete for individual event titles with a limit of one gymnast per country in each final. Juniors and seniors will compete in separate divisions. The women’s Team Challenge competitions will take place March 19. Apparatus finals will follow on March 20.
