HUNTSVILLE, Texas, March 13, 2014 – The March women’s national team camp begins today in Huntsville, Texas, at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site. The camp will serve as the final selection event for the team that will represent the United States at the Jesolo Trophy competition, which will be held March 22-23, in Jesolo, Italy. The camp ends on Monday, March 17, and will be led by national team coordinator Martha Karolyi, who has headed up the U.S. women’s national team since 2001.

The camp will also help determine Team USA’s entries at the Pacific Rim Championships, April 9-13 in Richmond, B.C., Canada, and the Tokyo World Cup, April 5-6, which will be announced later in the month. Athletes vying to represent the United States at these competitions will be demonstrating full-routine readiness to Karolyi and the rest of the selection committee.

Elizabeth Price of Coopersburg, Pa./Parkettes National Training Center, and Brenna Dowell of Odessa, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express, who finished 1-2 at the recent AT&T American Cup are expected to attend, along with 2013 World Championships all-around gold and silver medalists Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre, and Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max.
