Five time U.S. national all-around champion Blaine Wilson finished the all-around competition in sixth place, 0.088 point away from a bronze medal. He totaled 57.936 points and finished first on vault with a 9.80.

Teammate Paul Hamm finished in 14th with 57.049 points.

Alexi Nemov
(RUS) won the Olympic all-around title with 58.474 points. Nemov was the 1996 Olympic silver medalist. Wei Yang (CHN) won the silver with 58.361 points and Aleksander Beresh (UKR) took the bronze, scoring 58.024 points. Beresch was the 2000 European all-around champion.

Steve McCain
withdrew from the all-around due to an ankle injury sustained in the team finals.
In addition to vault, Wilson’s top scores were a 9.7 on floor and a 9.712 on parallel bars.
Hamm, who followed Nemov on every appartus but high bar, scored a 9.750 on parallel bars. He slipped off high bar, his first event, scoring 8.875, but collected 9.6s and 9.5s on the his remaining events.
