Tasha Schwikert, 15 (Las Vegas, Nev.) has been added to the 2000 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team, replacing Morgan White, 17 (Fairfield, Ohio).

White sustained a stress fracture of the second metatarsal of the left foot.
The decision to name Schwikert was finalized following discussions with selection committee members, White, and her coach Mary Lee Tracy. USA Gymnastics selection procedures allow for either of the two alternates to replace a current member of the Olympic Team. Alyssa Beckerman, 19 (Wyoming, Ohio) is the remaining alternate.
“We have great confidence in Tasha’s ability to step forward and meet the challenge of helping this team compete for a medal in Sydney,” said Bob Colarossi, President of USA Gymnastics. “Tasha has proven herself throughout this entire year by always being ready for significant competitions.”
“Morgan has withdrawn, but not without a courageous effort,” said Colarossi. “She is a great athlete and a young woman with tremendous spirit and drive,” added Colarossi.
Schwikert has competed in eight competitions in 2000 prior to the Olympic Games, including all three events in the Visa American Cup Series. She was also a member of the team that won a gold medal at the Spieth Sogipa Cup in Brazil. Schwikert is coached by Cassie Rice from GymCats Club in Las Vegas and has been training with the U.S. team for the past two and a half weeks.
