COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Feb. 18, 2007—Lisa Wang of Buffalo Grove, Ill., won the senior division at the 2007 Rhythmic Challenge on Sunday in Colorado Springs, Colo., earning a score of 58.350. Marlee Shape of Buffalo Grove, Ill., led the junior field with 52.950 points.
“I was really happy with how I did,” Wang said. “I felt I performed well in the altitude. I really gave it my all.”
Behind Wang with 56.400 points was Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md., in second place. Rachel Marmer of Los Angeles and Ava Gehringer of Evanston, Ill., placed third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 54.525 and 54.025.
In the junior d ivision, Anastasia Torba of Orind a , Calif. , placed second with her score of 47.775, while Savannah Reynold s of Van Nuys, Calif., finished third with a score of 44.250 and Tyler Rosemond of Fresh Mead ows, N.Y., placed fourth with 43.700 points.
Fifteen gymnasts from six states participated in the event, with the seniors competing in rope, hoop, ribbon and clubs, while the juniors competed in rope, hoop, ribbon and ball.
