LONDON, Jan. 17, 2012 – Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md./Capital Rhythmics, finished in 16th place after earning a 98.175 total in the all-around during the qualification round at the 2012 Visa International Gymnastics event held at the North Greenwich Arena in London. The event, part of the London Prepares series, serves both as the Olympic test event and as a second qualification competition for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Zetlin, first up in today’s competition, began with the clubs, where the 2010 U.S. national champion earned her highest score of the competition (24.975). In the second rotation, Zetlin performed her ribbon routine and scored 24.150 to complete her competition in the qualification competition. Earlier in the competition, she scored a 24.350 in hoop and 24.700 in ball.

Russia’s Daria Kondakova, the 2012 World Championships all-around silver medalist, had the highest score of the competition, 109.475. Kazakhstan’s Anna Alybayeva and Ukraine’s Ganna Rizatdinova rounded out the top three.

As the highest place finisher from the Americas at 2011 World Championships, Zetlin is eligible to qualify to the Olympic Games as a continental representative, which will be determined by the International Gymnastics Federation in the near future.
