SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 26-27, 2010 – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the Division III team championship, while Ursinus College’s Kira Oldham-Curtis claimed the all-around title at the 2010 National Collegiate Gymnastics Championships at Springfield College’s Blake Arena.

Four individual event champions were crowned on the second day of the 2010 National Collegiate Gymnastics Championships. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Justine Weyer won the vault. University of Wisconsin-Stout’s Meghan Hargens took first on the uneven parallel bars. Oldham-Curtis was victorious on the balance beam, and UW La Crosse’s Gabi Hooper was named national champion on the floor exercise.

UW- LaCrosse won the title for the third straight year, posting a team score of 186.775 that just beat out the College at Brockport, which scored 186.200. Finishing third was The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 184.750. The State University of New York-Cortland was fourth at 183.425, followed by host Springfield College at 182.425. Sixth went to Winona State University at 181.950.

In the all-around, Oldham-Curtis, a senior from Eugene, Oregon, scored 38.375 to defeat Meghan Hargens of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, who tallied a 38.050. Jessica Bolduc of Ithaca College was third with a 38.000. Oldham-Curtis’ individual event scores were: 9.625 on vault, 9.400 on bars, 9.575 on beam, and a 9.775 on the floor.

Major award winners included 2010 NCGA Senior Athlete of the Year Meghan Hargens of UW-Stout, and 2010 NCGA Co-Coaches of the Year, Barbara Gibson of UW-La Crosse and John Feeney of Brockport, who directed their teams to first- and second-place team finishes, respectively. It is the fifth time Gibson has earned this award. She also won it in 1989, 2001, 2005, and 2008. For Feeney, it is the second time he has been named Coach of the Year. He also won it in 2004.

The top six place finishers in each event were named First Team All-Americans. The second six were named Second Team All-Americans.

Academic All-Americans were named as well.
