The Pan American Gymnastics Union (PAGU) conducted a training camp for junior male gymnasts at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Dec. 8-13. The primary mission of the camp was coaches’ education. Coaches, gymnasts, experts, and staff attended from the following federations: Argentina, Barbados, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the USA.

Edouard Iarov of Canada, a current International Gymnastics Federation Men’s Technical Committee member, and Juan Carlos Colon of Puerto Rico provided feedback to the coaches during the training sessions and offered additional lectures for the coaches on technique and athlete preparation. A judging and rules presentation with questions and answers was also provided. The camp was organized and coordinated by Steve Butcher, PAGU Men’s Technical Committee president and current FIG Men’s Technical Committee member; and Dennis McIntyre, USA Gymnastics men’s program director.

This educational event was made possible through funding from the FIG, with additional support from USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
