EVERETT, Wash. – The United States won the men’s gymnastics and women’s trampoline team titles, as well as the men’s trampoline team bronze, on the first day of the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships at the XFINITY Arena at Everett (Wash.). Competition continues tomorrow with the team and all-around finals in women’s and rhythmic gymnastics, and the men’s and women’s trampoline finals.

China’s Weifeng Cai took top honors in the men’s all-around, posting an 87.4500. The USA’s Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), was second at 87.200, followed by Sam Mikulak of Newport Beach, Calif./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), with 87.150.

In trampoline, the U.S. women brought home the team gold medal with a total of 292.085. Japan’s 290.741 landed them in second, with Canada rounding out the top three at 286.810.

Rhythmic gymnastics has completed two of the four events that determine the team and all-around champions. The USA is leading the team standings at 131.215. Canada is next with 112.479, and China tallied 107.881 points. Aliya Protto of Culver City, Calif./California Rhythms, and Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./Community Youth Center, sit atop the senior and junior all-around standings at the mid-point.

The top eight gymnasts in the trampoline and men’s event standings, with a maximum of two per country, have advanced to the event finals.
