EVERETT, Wash., April 9, 2016 — The U.S. swept the gold medals at today’s rhythmic team and all-around competition, winning the junior and senior all-around crowns and the team title at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships presented by Hershey’s at Everett (Wash.) Community College. The USA’s Aliya Protto of Culver City, Calif./California Rhythms, and Camilla Feeley of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, claimed the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the senior all-around while Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./Community Youth Center, won the junior all-around title. Competition concludes tomorrow with the event finals, beginning at 1 p.m. PT, and four U.S. gymnasts will be in the event finals.

The four U.S. gymnasts who advanced to event finals are: Protto – hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon; Feeley – hoop, ball, ribbon; Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics – clubs; and junior Mizuno – hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon.

Protto won the senior all-around gold with a score of 67.766, followed by teammate Feeley in second at 65.532. Canada’s Katherine Uchida was awarded the bronze medal with a 59.582. Budginas posted the third-highest score of the night with a 63.299, but did not receive the bronze medal due to the two-per country rule.

In the junior all-around, Mizuno took home the gold medal with her 60.349. Alexandra Chtrevenskii of Canada finished second with a 53.898. Yating Zhao of China rounded out the top three (52.082).

In the team competition, the USA tallied 259.813 points for the gold. Canada was second at 224.059, and China finished third at 216.779.

The gymnasts performed the clubs and ribbon routines today, and hoop and ball were competed yesterday.

Tickets for rhythmic gymnastics, held at the Walt Price Student Fitness Center at the Everett Community College, are $25, plus any applicable fees.
