STOKE-ON-TRENT, Great Britain, Nov. 16, 2015 – U.S. athletes won six medals over the weekend at the Pat Wade Classic in Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain. Cameron Jones, Sophia Handel and Sara Mercer of Annapolis, Md./Xtreme Acro, won the women’s group – 12-18, with a score of 27.550. Mandy Marlow and Joseph McGraw of San Antonio, Texas/Acrobatic Gymnastics, brought home the gold in mixed pairs -13-19, with a 26.450.
In women’s group ages 13-19, Sophie Gruszka, Morgan Sweeney and Amanda Waterson of San Ramon, Calif./WestCoast Training Center, earned a 27.100 to finish .130 behind the champions from Britain’s Westfield Gym Club. Eily Corbett, Sydney Wu and Nicole Yamamoto of San Ramon, Calif./WestCoast Training Center, placed third with a 27.000.
In mixed pairs for ages 12-18, Anna Blough and Brian Coffey Riverside, Calif./Realis Gymnastics Academy, won the silver medal with a 25.200. Romina Gupta, Cheyanna Jones and Kaylee Witana of Campbell, Calif. /Aerial Tumbling and AcroGymnastics, earned the bronze medal in women’s group 12-18 (26.950).
The Pat Wade Classic is named in honor of the late Professor Patricia Wade, MBE, who was one of the founding members of acrobatic gymnastics and chaired the International Gymnastics Federation’s Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee from 2000-08.
