HOUSTON – Event Finals in floor exercise, pommel horse, and still rings were contested for the men at the Junior Pan American Gymnastics Championships. USA’s Paul Hamm (Waukesha, Wis.) won floor with an 8.625, took third on pommel horse with a 9.150 and third on still rings with a 8.425. Also competing for the USA men, Zachary Roberts (Encinitis, Calif.) tied for second on floor exercise with Canada’s Martin Monderie with a score of 8.475, and took second on pommel horse with a 8.875.
For the USA women, vault and uneven bars were contested. Monique Chang (Fairfax Station, Va.) earned second on vault with a 9.293 and Morgan White (Fairfield, Ohio) won the title on uneven bars with a 9.587, the highest score of the entire competition.
In the rhythmic all-around competition, Jessica Howard (Jacksonville, Fla.) won the title with a score of 35.083. Danielle Lord (Tualatin, Ore.) earned third place with a score of 34.663.
Event finals continue for men’s and women’s gymnastics on Saturday and group competition will conclude for rhythmic gymnastics.
