GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Oct. 29, 2011 – At the 2011 Pan American Games, the U.S. won a total of 18 medals in gymnastics, including nine gold and the continuation several medal streaks.
The U.S. medalists for 2011 are listed below.

Rhythmic gymnastics
The United States started off on a good note at the gymnastics arena. as Zetlin won the all-around title with a total score of 100.850 on the first night of competition and garnered a total of three gold and one silver medal.
Competing against Mexico’s Cynthia Valdez, Zetlin ended up with the gold in both ball and ribbon, with scores of 24.950 and 25.775, respectively, as well as the silver in hoop with a 25.500.
In addition to Zetlin, the rhythmic group took home the silver medal in 5-ball (24.850) and the bronze for its 2-hoop, 3-ribbon routine (24.625).
The USA’s Shelby Kisiel of Houston/North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, was seventh in the individual all-around and clubs, and fifth in ball.
Trampoline
The United States won two medals in the women’s competition. Earnest started with a triple front half-in pike, known as triffius pike, and finished with a score of 51.060 and the silver medal. Williams, who was competing in her second Pan American Games, almost went off the end of the deck, but recovered with a straddle jump and finished with 10 skills. Her 48.380 earned her the bronze medal.
In the men’s competition, Jeffrey Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Ultra Twisters, finished fourth, with his brother Steven placing seventh.
This competition marked just the second time trampoline has been included in the Pan American Games since 1959.
Women’s gymnastics
The U.S. women won the team gold medal, which means they have won 12 of the 14 women’s team titles in Pan Am Games history.
Caquatto continued the winning streak and became the seventh consecutive U.S. woman to win the all-around title, dating back to 1987, and the 11th overall. She also collected the uneven bars gold medal with her 14.525, followed by Johnson, who captured the silver at 14.500.
Jay, a newcomer to international competition, earned her second gold of the competition on vault after executing a Yurchenko double full and a layout Podkopayeva for a two-vault average of 14.337. She also was fifth in the all-around.
Also representing the USA for the first time, DeZiel advanced to the floor exercise finals, where she was sixth.
Men’s competition
The U.S. men’s team, which led at the end of the first subdivision, finished third in the team competition with an overall total of 342.000. Both Brazil and Puerto Rico competed in the second subdivision, with Brazil earning a 346.100 to take first place, and Puerto Rico scoring 344.850 to put them ahead of the United States.
Following the team competition, Wynn and Maestas both competed in the all-around finals, with Maestas just missing the medal podium with a fourth place finish. The duo also competed in the still rings finals, with Wynn taking the gold medal at 15.625 and Maestas claiming the bronze medal with his 15.550.
Ruggeri, who also competed in the floor and vault finals, finished the gymnastics competition with a gold on the horizontal bar, scoring a 15.650, and a three-way-tie for the silver on parallel bars at 14.825. Nakamori also competed in the parallel bars final, and Maestas participated in the high bar finals.
