INDIANAPOLIS, April 5, 2011 – The USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate Championships begin this weekend at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Scheduled for April 8-10 in the Cadet West Gymnasium, eight teams and 18 individual qualifiers from across the country will compete for team and individual national titles.
The University of Bridgeport, the defending national team champion, is one of four schools that will compete in the first of two team semifinals on Friday, April 8 at 2 p.m. ET. The teams competing in session one are: Centenary College, Temple University and Seattle Pacific University. Semifinal session two, which begins at 7 p.m. ET, will feature teams from Cornell University, Texas Woman’s University, U.S. Air Force Academy and the University of Pennsylvania. Individual all-around and event specialists from Brown University, Southern Connecticut State University, College of William and Mary, and West Chester University will also compete during the two semifinal sessions.
The all-around champion is determined during semifinal competition on Friday. The top four teams (based on team score) advance to the team finals on Saturday, April 9, at 7 p.m. ET. The top 10 finishers for each event qualify for individual event finals on Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. ET.
Tickets for the 2011 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate Championships are available now. Single day passes are $10 for adults and $6 for children, and a three-day event pass is $25 for adults and $13 for children. The USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships is for Division I, II and III schools with less than seven-and-a-half full scholarships.
