April 20, 2018 – As part of our ongoing mission to create a highly empowered culture focused on athlete safety, USA Gymnastics is exploring opportunities to build a permanent high-performance, multi-use training facility for the U.S. National Gymnastics Team. Our athletes are the best in the world, and they deserve a world-class location to prepare not only for excellence and success on the field-of-play, but also for life.

USA Gymnastics has taken the first step on the path of researching possible locations and circumstances for the multi-use facility by distributing a request for information (RFI) to interested parties about partnering for a new USA Gymnastics High Performance Center. The RFI will be sent to organizations and communities that have reached out to USA Gymnastics, as well as state and local agencies, sports commissions, developers and organizations that specialize in the development and design of world-class, high performance sports venues.

The training complex will serve all five of the USA Gymnastics competitive disciplines: women’s, men’s, rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics, and trampoline and tumbling. We hope to have the facility completed and operational by 2020.

Athlete safety and well-being will be major considerations when discussing and planning for the center. The important factors identified in the RFI include an open floor plan with visibility; access-controlled, secured facilities; a training area with state-of-the-art video technology to provide security and aid in skill development; medical services, athlete wellness and nutrition; lodging and food services; and space for events, educational seminars and the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Building a best-in-class facility to foster a positive and empowered training environment for the country’s top gymnasts is a must for the current and future young men and women who are pursuing their gymnastics dreams, as well as to honor the dedication of the athletes who came before them.
