INDIANAPOLIS, January 31, 2022 – USA Gymnastics announced Monday that Kyla Knights has been named director of its acrobatic gymnastics program, effective immediately. A former athlete and longtime coach, judge and program administrator within the acrobatic discipline, Knights brings a comprehensive skillset and wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kyla to the team in this important role,” said Stefanie Korepin, USA Gymnastics’ Chief Programs Officer. “This is an exciting time for the acrobatic program with the 2022 World Championships and World Age Group Competitions set to take place in March, just eight months after last year’s postponed competitions. Kyla’s background as a coach and administrator supporting athletes at all levels, coupled with her passion for growing the sport of acrobatic gymnastics across the U.S., make her the ideal candidate to lead the program into the future.”

In addition to coaching multiple U.S. National Team members, Knights has extensive experience on the administrative side of the sport, having coordinated numerous competitions, camps and clinics. She started the first acrobatic gymnastics program in the state of Arizona and, in 2015, was named the Region 1 Rookie Coach of the Year. Knights has also served as support staff for several U.S. delegations assigned to international competition, including the 2016 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships.
