USA Gymnastics names team for Mexican international competition

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four of the USA’s top junior women gymnasts will represent the United States in the Cancun Team Competition, Sept. 23-24, in Cancun, Mexico.
The U.S. Team is: Morgan Evans of Norfolk, Va. (Excalibur Gymnastics); Shantessa Pama of Dana Point, Calif. (Gym-Max Gymnastics); Samantha Peszek of McCordsville, Ind. (Deveau’s School of Gymnastics); and Monica Shoji of Cincinnati, Ohio (Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy)….

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Four of the USA’s top junior women gymnasts will represent the United States in the Cancun Team Competition, Sept. 23-24, in Cancun, Mexico.

The U.S. Team is: Morgan Evans of Norfolk, Va. (Excalibur Gymnastics); Shantessa Pama of Dana Point, Calif. (Gym-Max Gymnastics); Samantha Peszek of McCordsville, Ind. (Deveau’s School of Gymnastics); and Monica Shoji of Cincinnati, Ohio (Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy). The women’s competition is expected to feature athletes from Canada, El Salvador, Mexico and the United States.

Coaches for the competition are: Jian Liang of Gym Max in Costa Mesa, Calif.; Mary Lee Tracy of Cincinnati Gymnastics; Dena Walker of Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia Beach, Va.; and Peter Zhou of Deveau’s in Fishers, Ind.

Competition on Friday, Sept. 23, determines the all-round and team rankings, as well as serves as the qualification round for the individual event finals on Saturday.
