INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 18, 2017 – USA Gymnastics has named Jacqui Godfrey to lead its trampoline and tumbling program, effective Sept. 18, 2017. As director of trampoline and tumbling, she will oversee the direction and management of the trampoline and tumbling program, including administration, planning, budgeting, and events.
“Jacqui has a diverse background of management, event operations and planning, working with volunteers and athletes, as well as budget and staff planning,” said Ron Galimore, chief operating officer for USA Gymnastics. “Her experience will be invaluable for developing, directing and administering our trampoline and tumbling program heading into the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.”
“I am honored to join USA Gymnastics and the trampoline and tumbling community,” said Godfrey, a native of Auckland, New Zealand. “It is a privilege to combine my background in gymnastics and sports administration with my passion for the sport. I look forward to meeting and talking with the athletes, coaches, judges, committees and the entire T&T community. Together we will work to grow trampoline and tumbling participation, foster the health and safety of our members, and plan for continued success at all levels.”
Godfrey managed staff, fiscal matters and strategic planning for trampoline and tumbling events, as well as other disciplines, for Gymnastics Victoria in Australia as its events and marketing director. She also gained administrative and operational experience with sports and events in New Zealand with Netball New Zealand, the Edge and Best Events, as well as through volunteering for Gymnastics New Zealand as the national women’s high performance chairperson. Godfrey most recently worked as director of operations for International Gymnastics Camp. She earned a bachelor of science and commerce at the University of Auckland.
Godfrey will be based in Indianapolis and report to Luan Peszek, vice president of program development. She replaces Dr. George Drew, who became the program director in November 2014 and announced his retirement earlier this year. Drew will assist during the transition period.
