INDIANAPOLIS, January 26, 2021 – USA Gymnastics has chosen four clubs to join its 2021 Trampoline Development Center Program: Flip Factory Trampoline & Tumbling in Plano, Texas and Iowa Gym-Nest in Coralville, Iowa, as well as Rocky Mountain Tumbling & Cheer in Clearfield, Utah and Utah Valley Trampoline & Tumbling in Orem, Utah. As part of a new initiative, the latter two clubs will be working co-operatively to both take part in the same TDC workshop series.

The TDC program debuted in 2013 to further develop Trampoline and Tumbling (T&T) in the United States by incorporating the sport into the curriculum in gyms across the nation, expanding its Olympic pipeline. Since the launch of TDC program, the Trampoline & Tumbling program has grown and the Elite TDC option was added in 2017 to expand the program.

Joy Umenhofer Stovall, a member of the national trampoline staff, makes three visits to each TDC club to educate the gym, its coaches and athletes about T&T. When Umenhofer Stovall visits the TDC clubs, she hosts workshops to educate club staff on scheduling, coaching and teaching trampoline, basic skills, conditioning and flexibility, and progressions; talent identification development programs; the HUGS program, and interactive coach and athlete training sessions. In addition, other clubs in the area are encouraged to attend the coach education workshops and learn about expanding their programming to include trampoline. The free workshops are open to all coaches from T&T, artistic, diving, ninja, cheer, ice skating, snowboarding, and any other acrobatic sports interested in utilizing the trampoline for athlete training.

Athletes of all ages and body types can enjoy and benefit from Trampoline and Tumbling , which also enhances skill development across all gymnastics disciplines. T&T may also retain athletes who are looking for something different or need to adjust to accommodate outside scheduling challenges. The artistic gymnastics and trampoline competitive seasons complement one another, which makes it is possible for an athlete to participate in both. Many U.S gym clubs already have T&T as part of their programming.
