INDIANAPOLIS, December 26, 2020 – USA Gymnastics transitioned its annual men’s artistic Future Stars Championships to a virtual, non-competitive format in 2020 in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Throughout October and November, participants were able to submit video footage of performances across all six Olympic apparatus – floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar – as well as flexibility and parallel bar strength. Submissions were then reviewed by a judging panel, which provided athletes and coaches constructive feedback and a score range.

The Future Stars program is designed as a talent identification program, which starts athletes on the right developmental path to national and international success. The program uses a special performance routine format to evaluate the skill, strength and flexibility development of participating athletes.

Future Stars participants are separated into 10-, 11-, and 12-year-old divisions. A judging panel consisting of one Junior National Coaching Staff member and one National Gymnastics Judges Association official were assigned for the Olympic apparatus, while two Junior National Coaching Staff members were assigned for flexibility and parallel bar strength. Submissions were reviewed between November 21 and December 6, and athletes received meaningful performance evaluations to support their development.

USA Gymnastics would like to acknowledge the virtual 2020 Future Stars Championships participants for their dedication and hard work:
