Indianapolis – The 2003 Reese’s Gymnastics Cup, an annual entertainment-style gymnastics competition that features the top stars in the sport, will be hosted in Colorado Springs at the World Arena on November 22. The event, televised on NBC, will be hosted by USA Gymnastics in partnership with the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

“With its tradition of staging successful sporting events, Colorado Springs will be an excellent city to host this premier gymnastics event,” said Bob Colarossi, President of USA Gymnastics. “The Reese’s Cup is one of our most exciting events of the year as it always attracts an impressive roster of gymnastics stars. It will be an outstanding opportunity for gymnastics fans throughout the entire Front Range of Colorado.”
The Reese’s Gymnastics Cup has a history of Olympic Gold Medalists and World Champion competitors such as Shannon Miller, Alexei Nemov, Svetlana Khorkina, Dominique Moceanu, Dominique Dawes, Kim Zmeskal and five-time U.S. National Champion Blaine Wilson.
The Reese’s Gymnastics Cup adds to the list of successful Olympic-caliber sporting events hosted in Colorado Springs, including the 2001, 2000 and 1999 Skate America, the 1983, 1979 and 1978 U.S. Olympic Festival along with national championships and Olympic Trials in such sports as basketball, boxing, cycling, figure skating, ice hockey, volleyball and wrestling.
The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is also headquartered in Colorado Springs, where many of the top men’s gymnastics national team members are residents.
The 2001 Reese’s Gymnastics Cup is scheduled for December 1, at the University of Houston’s Hofheinz Pavilion. The event will be televised on NBC on December 9. See: MORE INFO
