INDIANAPOLIS, April 13, 2012 – Andrew Faulk of the U.S. Naval Academy was named the 2012 Senior Varsity Athlete of the Year and Alex Gaddour of Arizona State University was selected as the 2012 Senior Collegiate Athlete of the Year following the conclusion of the 2012 USA Gymnastics Men’s Collegiate Championships. Faulk and Gaddour won the varsity and club all-around titles at this year’s championships.

The other award winners for 2012 are:

  • Collegiate Coach of the Year: Scott Barclay, Arizona State University
  • Varsity Coach of the Year: Kip Simons, U.S. Air Force Academy
  • Assistant Collegiate Coach of the Year: Arizona State University coaching staff, Rob Survick and Evan Shaw
  • Assistant Varsity Coach of the Year: U.S. Air Force Academy coaching staff, Jeff Robinson and Chuck Schweiss

The winners were selected based on voting by coaches at the competition.

At the men’s USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships, the team and all-around competition are divided into two categories, varsity and collegiate. The varsity competition is for Division II and III schools with gymnastics as a varsity sport and the military academies, and the collegiate team category is for two-year or four-year degree-granting schools with gymnastics as a club sport. The individual event finals combine the two divisions into one.
