NEW ORLEANS, La. (August 8, 2025) – USA Gymnastics will launch a new women’s artistic gymnastics event, National Xcelebration, beginning in 2027, USAG President & CEO Li Li Leung announced Friday at the organization’s National Congress.

To be held annually each June and designed to celebrate athletes in the Xcel Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire divisions, the National Xcelebration will provide a national competitive opportunity for women’s artistic gymnasts who qualify through their respective regional meets.

Xcel serves as an alternative competitive option to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience. The National Xcelebration will provide a platform to bring thousands of athletes together to engage this thriving element of the sport.

“Xcel is USA Gymnastics’ most popular program, where the focus is on participation and celebration,” Leung said. “We are so grateful to the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Xcel Committee for their dedication to developing this new opportunity for athletes around the country.”

To prepare for the inaugural event, USA Gymnastics will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) this fall to identify potential host cities. Over the next year, the Xcel Committee will finalize qualification procedures and continue key planning efforts along with other women’s artistic gymnastics program committees. Further details, including event format and location, will be announced as planning progresses.
