SAN JOSE, Calif., June 9, 2016 – USA Gymnastics and Sharks Sports & Entertainment announced today the launch of the official "Gymnastics City USA" mobile app. The app, which will provide users with the latest event news including competition information, Fan Fest updates, live scoring, merchandise, exclusive opportunities and a rewards program, is available for download now in the Apple and Google Play app stores by searching “Gymnastics City USA.” The 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Women’s Gymnastics, which is officially sold out, will be held July 8 and 10 at SAP Center at San Jose. Organizers also provided a snapshot of the activities planned for the Fan Fest, held in conjunction with the Trials.

Open to the public, the Fan Fest will provide the perfect setting for families and fans to mingle and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from music, face painting, interactive elements, food and much more at the Arena Green, located across Autumn Street from SAP Center. “Gymnastics City USA” app users will be the first to learn about other public activities and more detailed information about the Fan Fest in the coming weeks.

“The ‘Gymnastics City USA’ mobile app gives fans the opportunity to engage in all that the Olympic Trials will bring to San Jose in July,” said Patricia Ernstrom, Executive Director of the San Jose Sports Authority. “Fans with and without tickets can participate and be a part of the event, follow the action LIVE with real-time scoring updates and a schedule of events with push notifications about events happening NOW. Plus, the app will feature a rewards program which gives users the opportunity to win prizes, including tickets to the sold out event, and meet-n-greet opportunities with USA Gymnastics Olympians and alumni.”

2016 is the second consecutive time the City of San Jose has hosted gymnastics’ Olympic Trials. This year’s Trials will determine which gymnasts earn a spot on Team USA to represent the United States at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In recognition of San Jose’s Olympic heritage and the City’s long relationship with the United States Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics, the City of San Jose will transform itself into “Gymnastics City U.S.A.” throughout the duration of the Trials.

The U.S. Olympic Trials for all sports are a collaborative undertaking between the U.S. Olympic Committee, the national governing bodies and the local organizing committees.
