STUTTGART, Germany, Oct. 5, 2019 – Following the conclusion of the final subdivision of the women’s qualification round at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, the U.S. women qualified for team, all-around and all four event finals. The USA sits atop the qualification team rankings, with Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre, and Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center, first and second in the all-around qualification rankings, respectively. The women’s team final is set for Oct. 8 at 2:30 p.m. local time. The U.S. men compete on Oct. 7 in the fifth of 10 qualification subdivisions at 10 a.m. local time/4 a.m. ET, which U.S. fans can watch live online on NBCSports.com.

Team USA posted a total of 174.205 for first in the standings, followed by China at 169.161 and Russia with 168.080. The U.S. Team event scores were: vault, 44.932; uneven bars, 44.374; balance beam, 41.666; and floor exercise, 43.233. They had the top team score for both vault and floor, and second on bars and beam.

The U.S. women advancing to the individual finals are listed below. The qualification round determines which countries advance to the finals for team (top eight), all-around (top 24, maximum two per country), and individual event finals (top eight per event, maximum two per country).

In the all-around, Biles and Lee were first (59.432) and second (57.166), respectively, with France’s Melanie de Jesus dos Santos in third at 56.782. McCallum was fifth at 55.906, but did not advance to the all-around final due to the max two per country.

In addition to qualifying for all four event finals and the all-around, Biles also had two skills that now bear her name, her double double dismount on beam is the Biles and her triple double on floor is the Biles 2.

The five women on the U.S. Team are: Biles; Carey; Kara Eaker of Grain Valley, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express; Lee; and Grace McCallum of Isanti, Minn./Twin City Twisters. MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights Gymnastics, is the alternate.

The U.S. women’s scores by event are below. Biles and Carey both competed two vaults to qualify to the vault finals, which are listed separately. Carey was third in the floor rankings but did not advance due to the two per country rule. Eaker is the first reserve for balance beam.
