STUTTGART, Germany, Sept. 1, 2007—USA Gymnastics today announced the six women who will compete in the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Sept. 1-9, in Stuttgart, Germany.

 

The six women are: Ivana Hong of Blue Springs, Mo./GAGE; Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa/Chow’s Gymnastics; Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas/WOGA; Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis, Ind./DeVeau’s Gymnastics; Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass./Brestyan’s; and Shayla Worley of Orlando, Fla./Orlando Metro. Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind./Sharp’s Gymnastics Academy, is the reserve athlete.

 

The 2007 World Championships is the qualifying event for the 2008 Olympic Games.  The top 12 teams advance to compete in Beijing.
