Kassi Price Wins All-Around Gold and
Katie Kivisto Earns All-Around Bronze

Indianapolis – The U.S. women earned seven medals, including the team and all-around gold, at the Puerto Rico Cup, May 29-June 1, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. U.S. team members included Katie Kivisto (Boca Raton, Fla.), Brittney Koncak (McQueeney, Texas) and Kassi Price (Plantation, Fla.).

“I am very pleased with our success at the Puerto Rico Cup,” said Kathy Kelly, Senior Director of the Women’s Program for USA Gymnastics. “The girls gained valuable international experience to bring home to the U.S. program.”
Despite being short one athlete, the U.S. topped Brazil and Mexico to claim the team gold. Koncak was forced to withdraw from the competition due to an injury she incurred during training. Since team competition rules stated that three gymnasts compete on each event and the best two scores count, it was crucial that Price and Kivisto hit their routines. Both girls were solid and consistent in their performances to take the gold.
Price also won the all-around gold with 36.684 while Kivisto took the bronze with 36.266. Both girls train together at American Twisters in Pompano Beach, Fla.
In the event finals competition, Kivisto placed first on beam and third on bars. Price placed second on both beam and floor.
Participating countries included Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Germany, Great Britain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, USA, and Venezuela.
