STUTTGART, Germany, Sept. 4, 2007— The U.S. Women’s Team takes on the world tomorrow, Sept. 5, at 8 a.m. ET in the women’s team finals of the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. Joining the United States in the women’s team finals are Brazil, China, France, Great Britain, Italy, Romania and Russia.

 
The members of the U.S. Team are:  Ivana Hong of Blue Springs, Mo.; Shawn Johnson of West Des Moines, Iowa; Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas; Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis, Ind.; Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass.; and Shayla Worley of Orlando, Fla. Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind., is the reserve athlete.
 
The USA was ranked first after the qualification round, followed by China, Romania and Russia. Scores from the qualification round do not carry forward. In the team finals, three women will compete on each apparatus and all scores count.
 
By finishing in the top 12 at the 2007 World Championships, the U.S. women earned a berth in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
