METZ, France, Nov. 16, 2010 – The USA earned three medals on the first day of competition at the 2010 World Age Group Trampoline and Tumbling Competition in Metz, France. Erin Jauch of Crystal Lake, Ill., won the gold medal in girl’s 15-16 double mini-trampoline; Maggie Gallagher of Coto de Caza, Calif., took the silver in girl’s 11-12 trampoline; and Shaylee Dunavin of Amarillo, Texas, earned the silver medal in girl’s 13-14 tumbling. Competition continues through Friday, Nov. 19.

Jauch, who trains at Fox Valley T&T, won the USA’s first gold of the competition, posting a 66.900 to take the 15-16 girl’s double-mini title. Jordyn Miller-Burko of Canada finished second (65.000), and Russia’s Ekaterina Zhigalova (64.500) was third. Kristen Bowman of Elbert, Colo./Artsports, finished just off the podium in fourth. Russia’s Alexander Odintsov (73.000), Andrey Kalashnikov (68.100), and Mikhail Manin (67.400) finished one-two-three in the boy’s 15-16 double-mini. Joshua Coles of Wonder Lake, Ill./5 Star Tumbling And Trampoline, finished sixth.

Ana Odishvili of Georgia won the girl’s 11-12 trampoline gold medal with a 35.000. Gallagher, who trains at World Elite Gymnastics, took the silver medal with a score of 33.100. Victoria Karashchan of Russia claimed the bronze (33.000). Audrey Ghanian of Holmdel, N.J./Head Over Heels, finished fifth. Oleg Selyutin of Russia won the 11-12 boy’s title with a 35.200. Danil Mussabayev of Kazakhstan (34.000) and Vitaly Marchenko of Russia (33.300) took second and third. Cody Gesuelli of Middletown, N.J./Head Over Heels, finished fourth.

Great Britain took the top spots in 13-14 tumbling. Brits Lucie Colebeck and Yasmin Taite finished first (32.300) and third (31.400), respectively for the girl’s. Dunavin, who trains at Trinity Trampoline and Tumbling, won the silver medal with a 31.400, repeating her accomplishment from 2009. Cassandra Skinner of Livonia, Mich./AGT Flipcity, finished fourth. Britain’s Greg Townley won the boy’s 13-14 tumbling title (34.000). Maxim Shlyakin of Russia finished second (32.500), while Adam Matthiesen of Denmark took third (32.200). Brandon Krzynefski of Centreville, Va./Capital Gymnastics National Center, finished fifth.

In synchronized trampoline, Hanna Harchonak and Sviatlana Makshtarova of Belarus won the girl’s 17-18 gold with a 46.000. Great Britain’s Natasha Carter and Sophie Lewis finished second (42.900), with third going to France’s Emilie Giordano and Leslie Kohler (42.300). The USA finished fifth and sixth with synchro partners Mackenzie Kulka of Tulsa, Okla./Oklahoma Extreme, and Alicia Powder of Ludera Ranch, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics, and Kelly Gesuelli of Middletown, N.J./ Head Over Heels, and Ghanian, respectively.

Event qualification and final rounds will take place each day on every apparatus for boys and girls of the same age group.
