BUCHAREST, Romania, April 4, 2017 – The U.S. collected three medals at the Irina Deleanu Cup this weekend in Bucharest, Romania including ribbon gold from Karrine Denisova of Wilmette, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center.

In the junior competition, Elzabeth Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, finished sixth in the all-around with scores of 15.800, hoop; 13.900, ball; 13.150, clubs, and 13.550, ribbon. Her all-around total was 56.400. Denisova was seventh, totaling 56.150, and Shannon Xiao of Fairfax, Va./Gymnastics World, posted a 55.500 all-around total for eighth. Matylda Marszalek of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, finished 12th in the all-around.

Denisova scored 13.400 in the ribbon final to share the title with Bulgaria’s Elizabet Yovcheva. In the clubs final, Xiao earned a 14.200 to win the silver medal behind Romania’s Denisa Mailat. Kapitonova finished sixth in the hoop final and eighth in the ball final.

In the senior competition, Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./California Rhythms, earned a sixth place finish in the all-around with a 59.500. Her apparatus scores were: 15.100, hoop; 16.350, ball; 13.800, clubs; and 14.250, ribbon. Eliza Cohen of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, finished 10th in the all-around ranking.

Budginas advanced to all four event finals, winning the bronze medal in the hoop final after she posted a score of 16.150. She also took fourth for ball, fifth for ribbon and eighth for clubs.

Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, represented the United States at the Marbella Grand Prix in Marbella, Spain, and finished 15th in the all-around.
