LONG BEACH, Calif. – The U.S. champions for synchronized trampoline were named today at the 2012 U.S. Elite Championships for trampoline and tumbling inside the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, Calif.
The event also serves as the Junior Olympic national championships, which with approximately 2,000 entries is the largest ever.
Competition continues tomorrow with the preliminary rounds for junior elite individual trampoline and junior and senior elite prelims for tumbling and double-mini trampoline.
In the junior men’s synchronized competition, Alexi Shostak and Louis Prejean of T&T Express earned scores of 34.800 in the compulsory round, 43.400 in the optionals and 41.900 in the final round to take the title. Cody Gesuelli and Joseph Kozlowski of ETA, 101.900, were second, followed by Nathan Donnelly and Kyle Ford of Xtreme Trampoline, 100.000.
Ginger Hansen and Andrea Ghanian of ETA posted a 120.700 combined score to win the junior elite women’s synchronized trampoline competition. The duo posted scores of 35.300, compulsory; 43.400, optional; and 42.000, finals. Rounding out the top three were Nicole Gasci and Breanne Hatter of ETA, 116.700, and Hally Piontek of Kansas City Trampoline Club, and Madi Webster of Tumbling Express, 115.700.
The Level 10 men’s champions were as follows: Joey Isenberg of Flip Over Gymnastics, and Lukas Stalik of Novak’s Gymnastics Center, 31.000, ages 10-12; K.J. Newman of Southern California T&T, and Gabriel Garon of Bounce California, 39.100, ages 13-14; Noah Rhoads and Alex Cheek, both of Fairland T&T, 35.800, ages 15-16; and Stewart Brackett of The Palaestra, and Seth Crawford of Gymnast Factor, 39.600, ages 17 and up.
In the women’s Level 10 competitions, the champions were: Madelyn Barba and Carly Townsend, both of World Elite, 41.700, ages 13-14; Mikala Collier of High Altitude, and Jordan Webb of Oklahoma Extreme, 37.700, ages 15-16; and Jolene Carlson and Megan Griggs of Summit Gymnastics, 39.100, ages 17 and up.
