Competition Served as Preparation for 2002 Rhythmic World Championships in New Orleans
Indianapolis – The U.S. rhythmic group team earned the silver medal in the ribbon competition at the Tournament of Iliana in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 25-26, 2002, their first-ever international competition. The meet served as preparation for the 2002 Rhythmic World Championships, July 12-14, in New Orleans. The team finished fifth all-around and fourth in Rope & Ball.
The Tournament of Iliana is a significant competition on the international calendar for rhythmic group. Competitors included Bulgaria, who swept the competition in all divisions, Greece, Japan, Brazil, United States, Poland, Canada, Spain and South Africa, who finished 1-9, respectively.
