June 30, 2016 – Alyssa Baumann of Plano, Texas/WOGA, has withdrawn from the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics. Baumann injured her left elbow while training on the uneven bars on June 29. Based on early evaluations, she has torn several ligaments and muscles. Baumann is seeing her local physicians to determine the best course of treatment, but the injury precludes her from competing in the Trials.
“I’m very sad to be missing the Olympic Trials,” said Baumann. “It has always been a dream of mine to compete for a spot on the Olympic team. I will be watching and supporting the girls at both Trials and the Olympics. Thank you for everyone’s support.”
