COTTBUS, Germany and JESOLO, Italy, March 20, 2013 – Members of both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams will be in action this weekend in competitions set to take place in Europe. Four men, including 2013 AT&T American Cup all-around champion Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./University of Oklahoma, will compete in the 2013 Cottbus World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, while eight women, led by 2012 Olympic team gold-medalist Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max, will compete at the 2013 Jesolo Trophy competition in Jesolo, Italy.
2013 Cottbus World Cup
Chris Brooks of Houston/Cypress Gymnastics, Glen Ishino of Santa Ana, Calif./University of California – Berkeley, and Brandon Wynn of Columbus, Ohio/Ohio State University, join Dalton at the Cottbus World Cup. Part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s individual event World Cup series, competition kicks off Thursday, March 21, with two days of qualifications. The finals for the event are Saturday and Sunday, March 23-24.
During the qualification round, Dalton will compete on the floor exercise, still rings and vault; Brooks on the pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar; Ishino on floor, pommel horse and high bar; and Wynn on still rings and parallel bars.
2013 Jesolo Trophy
The U.S. enters a strong team at the 2013 Jesolo Trophy competition in Jesolo, Italy, led by Ross. Her senior teammates are AT&T American Cup runner-up Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/Bannon’s Gymnastics; Brenna Dowell of Lenexa, Kan./Great American Gymnastics Express; Peyton Ernst of Coppell, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics; Maggie Nichols of Little Canada, Minn./Twin City Twisters; and Lexie Priessman of Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics, the reigning U.S. junior champion.
Amelia Hundley of Hamilton, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics, and Bailie Key of Montgomery, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics, will compete in the junior division.
Competition begins on Saturday, March 23, with the team and all-around finals, followed by event finals on March 24.
