SOFIA, Bulgaria, Nov. 6, 2017 – Led by Austin Nacey, Braidwood, Ill./TwistStars Tumbling and Trampoline, the U.S. men won the silver medal in the men’s double mini-trampoline team final tonight at the World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships at Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria. The U.S. team consists of Matthew Hawkins of Phoenix, Ariz./North Valley Gymnastics; Nacey; Alex Renkert of Columbus, Ohio/Integrity Athletics; and CJ Rhoades of Joplin, Mo./Amplify Gymnastics.

Having qualified to the final this morning in third position, the U.S. men improved one position to finish with the silver medal in tonight’s double mini-trampoline team final. Russia took the gold medal with a 114.600 total, followed by the U.S.’s 109.900. Australia took the bronze with a 107.600.

Nacey also advanced to the men’s double-mini individual final in sixth place, scoring 72.900.

In the women’s tumbling team final, Team USA finished fourth with a 97.300 behind China (103.400), Great Britain (99.900) and France (99.100). Hope Bravo of Dallas, Texas/Eagle Gymnastics Academy; Melissa Doucette of Somersworth, N.H./Capital Gymnastics National Training Center; Eliza Floisand of Salt Lake City, Utah/Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling and Rachel Thevenot of Metairie, La./Elmwood Gymnastics Academy, represented Team USA in women’s tumbling.

Earlier in the day, Hally Piontek of Warrensburg, Mo./Kansas City Trampoline Club, finished third in the women’s double-mini trampoline standings to earn a spot in the individual final. The U.S. team finished sixth and did not make the team final.

Piontek and Jessica Stevens of Ellicott City, Md./Fairland Gymnastics, earned a 15th place finish in women’s synchronized trampoline with an 82.000. Nicole Ahsinger of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, and Sarah Webster of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, posted a 64.200 to finish 21st.

In the men’s synchronized competition, Jeffrey Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy, and Aliaksei Shostak of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, and Isaac Rowley of Allen, Texas/Eagle Gymnastics Academy, and Cody Gesuelli of Huntsville, Ala./Merino Trampoline Gymnastics Academy, finished 23rd and 26th, respectively.
