PARIS, France (July 27,2024) – The U.S. men’s team qualified to Monday’s team final, while Frederick Richard (Stoughton, Mass.) and Paul Juda (Deerfield, Ill.) advanced in the all-around and Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.) qualified on pommel horse following the conclusion of Saturday’s qualifying round at Bercy Arena.
The U.S. team of Asher Hong (Tomball, Texas), Juda, Brody Malone (Aragon, Ga.), Nedoroscik and Richard advanced to the team final in fifth with their score of 253.229. The first four spots were claimed by China (263.028), Japan (260.594), Great Britain (256.561) and Ukraine (253.893). Italy, Switzerland and Canada round out the eight nations set to compete in the final.
Richard and Juda moved on to the 24-athlete all-around final in 10th (83.498) and 13th (82.865), respectively. Boheng Zhang of China was the top qualifier with an 88.597.
Nedoroscik advanced to the pommel horse final after both he and Rhys McClenaghan of Ireland posted a matching score of 15.200 in qualifications. The American moved on in second position as McClenaghan posted the higher execution score, with an 8.900 to Nedoroscik’s 8.800. Hong is first reserve on still rings and vault, while Richard is third reserve on horizontal bar.
The U.S men will be back in action for the men’s team final on Monday, July 29 at 5:30 p.m. CEST/ 11:30 a.m. ET.
