COTTBUS, Germany, March 22, 2013 – The qualification round for the finals of the 2013 World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, wrapped up today, and the USA will be represented in all six of the men’s event finals. Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./University of Oklahoma, Glen Ishino of Santa Ana, Calif./University of California – Berkeley, and Brandon Wynn of Columbus, Ohio/Ohio State University, today qualified for their second event. The finals for the 2013 Cottbus World Cup, an International Gymnastics Federation individual event World Cup, begin tomorrow and continue on Sunday, March 23-24. 

The three U.S. men who will compete in Saturday’s final action are: Dalton, floor exercise; Ishino, pommel horse; and Wynn, still rings. Earlier today, Dalton qualified for vault finals, with Wynn advancing for the parallel bars and Ishino on the horizontal bar finals. Chris Brooks of Houston/Cypress Gymnastics, performed in the parallel bars and high bar qualification rounds but did not advance.

On vault, Dalton was second in the qualifying round, earning a 14.700 final score. He received a 14.800 for his first vault and a 14.600 on his second. Hong Kong’s Wai Hung Shek had the day’s highest score on vault at 14.950.

Wynn qualified for the parallel bars with his 14.750, which earned him seventh place. Switzerland’s Lucas Fischer had the top parallel bars score at 15.050. Brooks posted a 13.100 for 24th place.

In the horizontal bar qualifying round, Ishino claimed a 14.400 for his routine and eighth place. Germany’s Andreas Bretschneider’s 15.175 was the best high bar score for that round. Brooks’ 13.500 put him 14th.
