PARIS, France (July 27, 2024) – After one subdivision competition Saturday morning, Team USA currently sits second in the men’s team standings, while Frederick Richard (Stoughton, Mass.) and Paul Juda (Deerfield, Ill.) are third and fourth in the individual all-around, respectively. The U.S. competed in Subdivision 1, with Subdivisions 2 and 3 set to compete in the afternoon and evening Saturday.
The top eight teams, top 24 all-arounders, and top eight on each apparatus after all three subdivisions complete will advance to their respective finals, with the team final set for Monday, July 29. Final qualification results will be posted at the conclusion of Saturday’s qualification rounds.
The U.S. men posted a score of 253.229 Saturday morning to sit behind Great Britain in Subdivision 1 with a 256.561. Canada scored 247.794 and Germany 245.395.
In all-around competition, Richard finished the session in third position with an 83.498, followed closely by Juda in fourth with an 82.865. Great Britain’s Jake Jarman and Joe Fraser had the top two scores, with Jarman in first (84.897) and Fraser second (84.666).
Americans have their sights set on qualifying for apparatus finals as well. Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.) leads the pommel horse standings with a 15.200 and Richard is third on horizontal bar (14.166), fifth on parallel bars (14.433) and seventh on pommel horse (13.633). Asher Hong (Tomball, Texas) sits as No. 3 on still rings (14.633), No. 5 on vault (14.566) and No. 6 on floor exercise (14.100), while Brody Malone (Aragon, Ga.) is fourth on parallel bars (14.533) and fifth on rings (14.233).
The U.S. is back up on the docket Sunday, July 28 with the American women taking on qualifying at 11:40 a.m. CEST/5:40 a.m. ET in Bercy Arena. Fans can follow along on Peacock and NBC.
