MEDELLIN, Colombia, June 24, 2012 — The U.S. junior men won four individual event medals at the 2012 Junior Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Medellin, Colombia, to finish the competition with six medals. Akash Modi of Morganville, N.J./Monmouth Gymnastics Academy, and Timothy Wang of Riverside, Calif./South Coast Gymnastics, won the silver and bronze medals on parallel bars, respectively; Modi was also second on the pommel horse; and Marvin Kimble of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners Gymnastics Academy, was the still rings bronze medalist.

Modi, who also won individual all-around bronze, scored a 14.150 and Wang earned a 13.850 on the parallel bars. Colombia’s Jossimar Calvo won the event with a 15.000.

With the parallel bars silver, Modi led Team USA in individual medals at the competition, finishing with two silvers and one bronze. In addition to his all-around bronze and parallel bars silver, he placed second on pommel horse with a 13.825. Calvo was the pommel horse titlist, with Brazil’s Felipe Arakawa finishing in third place.

Kimble scored a 13.975 on still rings for the bronze medal, finishing behind Calvo and Puerto Rico’s Alexis Torres.

In the other event finals, Kimble placed a fourth on vault with a 15.125; Joey Peters of Orefield, Pa./Parkettes National Gymnastics Center, was eighth on high bar with an 11.925, finished fifth on rings with a 13.725 and was sixth on pommel horse with a 13.200;and Modi scored a 13.775 on floor exercise for sixth.

Team USA began the Junior Pan Am Championships by winning the team silver.
