Elise Ray Wins Gold Medal on Floor Exercise

Indianapolis, Ind. – USA Gymnastics earned five more medals in the event finals of the Senior Pacific Alliance yesterday in New Zealand, bringing the total medal count to 17 medals, including five gold, nine silver and three bronze throughout the competition.

(Columbia, Md.), eighth place all-around and top U.S. finisher at the 1999 World Championships, won a gold medal on the floor exercise with a score of 9.612. Winning the silver medal was teammate Morgan White (Cincinnati, Ohio), the 1999 Pan American Games all-around gold medalist, who scored 9.600.
1996 Olympian and four-time defending national champion Blaine Wilson (Columbus, Ohio) won a silver medal in the parallel bars event final with a 9.487, losing to China’s Zhao Sheng with 9.587. 1999 World Championships Team Member Sean Townsend (Houston, Texas) finished second on high bar with a 9.475 to China’s Lu Jia who scored 9.513.
U.S. Rhythmic National Team Member Stefanie Croyle (Harvard, Mass.) earned a bronze medal in the ball competition with a score of 9.591.
