INDIANAPOLIS, March 13, 2019 – Members of the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team are competing in Azerbaijan, Canada and Germany, with rhythmic gymnasts taking to the floor in the Ukraine. Competition begins tomorrow in the World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the Deriugina Cup in Kiev, Urkraine. On Friday, the University of Calgary (Alta., Canada) International Cup kicks off, and the DTB Pokal World Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, and the Grand Prix in Kiev on Saturday, March 16.
Here’s a quick summary, in chronological order, of who is competing where and when, as well as how to follow the action.
Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Sunrays, Trevor Howard of Columbus, Ohio/Ohio State University, and Colin Van Wicklen of Magnolia, Texas/University of Oklahoma, are competing in the individual event World Cup in Baku. The qualification rounds are on March 14-15, with the event finals on March 16-17. The top eight for each event, with a maximum of two per country, advance to the event finals.
Carey is competing on both the vault and floor exercise. Although the actual events for the men will not be finalized until tomorrow, the expected events for them are: Howard – floor exercise, still rings, vault and parallel bars; and Van Wicklen – floor, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
The competition schedule is as follows. All times in the schedule are local to Baku, which is eight hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern Time Zone.
March 14
12:15 p.m. – Rotations 1-5, men’s floor exercise, parallel bars and still rings and women’s vault and uneven bars
3:45 p.m. – Rotations 6-10, men’s floor exercise, parallel bars and still rings
March 15
12 p.m. – Rotations 1-4, men’s vault, pommel horse and horizontal bar, and women’s balance beam and floor exercise
3 p.m. – Rotations 5-9, men’s vault, pommel horse and horizontal bar, and women’s balance beam and floor exercise
March 16
12 p.m. – Event finals: men’s floor exercise, parallel bars and still rings, and women’s vault and uneven bars
March 17
12 p.m. – Event finals: men’s vault, pommel horse and horizontal bar, and women’s balance beam and floor exercise

Nastasya Generalova of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, will compete in the Grand Prix, and Eliza Cohen of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, and Helena Pavlovcic of Glendale, Calif./California Rhythms, will compete in the Deriugina Cup in Kiev. Both events have all-around and individual event competitions.

Riley Loos of El Dorado, Calif./Technique Gymnastics, Sean Melton of Orlando, Fla./Ohio State University, Robert Neff of Brookfield, Wis./Stanford University, and Genki Suzuki of North Wales, Pa./University of Oklahoma, are competing in the senior competition of the University of Calgary Cup.
At 5:40 p.m. MT on March 15, the competition kicks off with the team and all-around finals, as well as a qualification round for the event finals on March 16 at 7 p.m. MT. For the team competition, the format is four gymnasts compete on each apparatus, and three scores count toward the team score in the head-to-head dual with Canada. The top eight on each apparatus advance to the event finals.

Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre, and Akash Modi of Morganville, N.J./Stanford University, are competing in DTB Pokal World Cup, the second of four all-around World Cups in the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup Series. Using local Stuttgart time, the DTB Pokal World Cup has the men’s competition on March 16 at 12:30 p.m., with the women at 12:30 p.m. on March 17. Stuttgart is five hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern Time Zone.
